Hardwood Floor Installation in Memphis, TN
Solid and engineered hardwood, installed right the first time. Free in-home estimate, careful subfloor prep, and a finished result that holds up for decades.
Choosing the Right Hardwood for Your Memphis Home
Memphis humidity and temperature swings put real demands on hardwood. Solid hardwood looks classic and can be refinished many times over its lifetime, but it needs to acclimate properly and isn't the right call for every space (basements, slab-on-grade, high-moisture areas). Engineered hardwood is more dimensionally stable and works almost anywhere — it's our usual recommendation for newer Collierville and Arlington builds where the slab-on-grade construction makes solid hardwood riskier. We walk you through species (oak, maple, hickory, walnut, exotics), plank width, and finish during the estimate.
Our Installation Process
Every install starts with subfloor inspection and moisture testing — no shortcuts. We acclimate the wood in your home for the manufacturer's recommended time, lay out the pattern with care for sightlines, and use proper fastening or glue-down methods depending on the product. We handle furniture moving, baseboard removal and reinstallation, and threshold transitions. Cleanup happens daily, not just at the end of the job.
Stairs, Transitions, and Custom Patterns
Stairs deserve as much attention as the main floor. We install solid hardwood treads and risers, match stain to your main level, and handle the transition between hardwood and any other surface (tile, carpet, LVP) with proper reducers and T-molds. Wide-plank, herringbone, chevron, and mixed-width patterns are all on the table — the more interesting the pattern, the more careful the layout has to be.

Common Questions
How long does a hardwood floor installation take?
Most installations take 3-7 days depending on the square footage and whether we're acclimating the wood on-site. Larger jobs or multi-room installs with intricate patterns can take longer. We give a clear timeline during the estimate.
Solid or engineered — which should I get?
Solid hardwood lasts longer and refinishes better, but engineered is more stable in humid conditions and works on slab. We recommend based on your specific home and how you use the space, not what gives us the bigger ticket.
Do I need to be out of the house during install?
Usually you can stay, but the install area needs to be cleared and we'll be making noise during the day. Once finishing starts, you'll want to stay off the floor for 24-48 hours per coat depending on the product.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on the species, the square footage, the prep needed, and the finish. We give detailed written estimates after coming out to look — there's no charge for the estimate.
